Often described as the ‘invisible brace’, Invisalign is a highly popular orthodontic treatment which has been used successfully by millions of people worldwide. It is particularly popular in teenagers and adult patients who are looking to straighten their smile in a highly discreet and comfortable way.
Dr Ferakh Hamid is an accredited Platinum Invisalign provider and has a great deal of experience in providing this treatment. He will work with you to ensure that you get the best result possible.
Thanks to the unique 3D technology used throughout the process, Invisalign allows for highly predictable and precise results. Thanks to this, treatment times are often greatly reduced.
With shorter treatment times, the costs involved with Invisalign also decrease – making this an extremely cost-effective option for many patients.
This innovative system truly is the modern way to straighten teeth. It combines a number of exciting features:
Custom made aligners are made from very strong, clear medical grade plastic which will fit snuggly over your teeth allowing you to talk as normal. The very strong material is thin and light weight so it’s easy to remove and re-insert. With absolutely no metal parts, the aligners are very comfortable and also virtually invisible. The durable plastic is resistant to staining and odour so your aligners won’t discolour over time.
Invisalign makes use of exciting cutting edge technology called Clincheck®. This advanced 3D system allows us to plan your treatment in advance. We can plot your treatment on screen simply by taking impressions of your teeth. We can show you how your teeth look now, the way they are expected to move and what they could look like when we are finished. It will even tell us how long the process is likely to take.
Using all of the data, your custom made set of aligners will be produced. You’ll need to collect each one in turn and wear it for around 2 weeks.
Every single aligner will be expertly designed and manufactured to exert just the right amount of pressure as required- helping to move your teeth quickly yet comfortably.
Invisalign can be used to treat a range of tooth imperfections including overcrowding, rotations and gaps. Aligners can be used on top or bottom teeth.
Invisalign aligners often prove more comfortable than fixed metal braces. There are no metal parts to rub on the inside of your mouth. This also means they are suitable for patients with nickel allergies.
You’ll find that your aligners fit around your life very well. For best effect it is recommended that you wear them for at 22 hours each day but they should be removed to eat.
Teeth can be kept clean and healthy as your aligners are moved for cleaning. It’s even possible to remove them for special occasions if you need to.
As all of your aligners will be produced in advance the need for regular tightening appointments is removed. Check-ups are generally more hygienic and there will be no need for a lengthy fitting appointment.
With this virtually invisible treatment you can carry on with life as normal with no need to explain your tooth straightening to anyone if you don’t want to.
As it is highly tailored, Invisalign offers truly targeted results. This helps to dramatically reduce average treatment times.
While every patient is different, on average Invisalign treatment is complete within 12 to 18 months. Some patients require their aligners for only 6 months while more complex cases can take up to 2 years.
It is always recommended that you wear a retainer following any type of orthodontic treatment.
A retainer, which should be worn at night, helps to stop your teeth from continuing to move (or moving back into their original positions) as they can have a tendency to do.
All of our Invisalign patients will be supplied with a set of three bespoke retainers. These retainers are produced from the same material as your aligners so they will be just as strong and durable and will resist stains and odour in the long-term.
