White Composite Fillings (Resin Based)
Advances in dentistry permit the dentist to offer you more cosmetic solutions such as composite fillings (white fillings). Composites are bonded to the tooth and help enhance a smile to provide you with a more cosmetic and natural looking smile. Composite fillings contain no mercury and once used to restore a tooth are virtually indistinguishable and help to create an attractive smile. |

Composites are available in different shades which allows the dentist to match the filling to the colour of your teeth. They can also be used to replace existing amalgam fillings. If your goal is to achieve a beautiful attractive smile then you should consider tooth whitening prior to replacement of your existing amalgam fillings. This will enable your dentist to match the colour of your fillings to the new whiter shade of your teeth.
Composites bond very well to tooth and can be used to rebuild broken or worn teeth. However, they are not always successful when used to replace very large amounts of tooth tissue. In this case a crown or inlay would be more advantageous. With the aid of the latest computer aided design it is now possible to design, shape and create a beautiful restoration outside the patient mouth using the CEREC system. This enables the dentist to spend more time creating a precison made bespoke restoration to achieve optimal aesthetics. These restorations are made from reinforced porcelain which is much stronger than conventional fillings CEREC restorations may be devised in one visit and can be used to fill teeth, make crowns, veneers and inlays. |
